Lustick, Washington Wing Public AffairsKent, Wash. -- Every December on National Wreaths Across America Day, Washington Wing Civil Air Patrol members converge at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington, and at other locations in Washington state, to honor American military members and their families.   • First Woman to Command Civil Air Patrol’s Washington Wing Washington Wing's Next Commander Selectedby Capt. Jessica, Jerwa, Washington Wing Public AffairsDecember 16, 2017McChord Field – Civil Air Patrol’s Washington Wing will see its first female commander installed in April 2018 at the organization’s annual training conference and banquet in Wenatchee, Washington. Colonel (Select) Shelly J. Norman will assume command from Colonel James P. Furlong. The Washington Wing state headquarters is at McChord Field, Joint Base Lewis-McChord and has nearly 1,500 members statewide. Norman joined Civil Air Patrol's Fire Mountain Composite Squadron in Lewis County in 2002 and was initially appointed the Emergency Services Training Officer. Six Washington Wing units earn 2016/2017 Quality Cadet Unit Award!Pacific Region members, It is with a great deal of pride that we congratulate the 34 cadet and composite squadrons in the Pacific Region that have earned the 2016/2017 Quality Cadet Unit Award. These units have demonstrated through their high levels of Adult Leadership, Aerospace Education, Cadet Achievement,  participation in the Red Ribbon Leadership Academy program, encampment participation, recruiting and retention, orientation flights, and participation in CyberPatriot and Emergency Services that they are among the top cadet and composite units in the nation.
