Curious to know how to be a successful WAWG cadet?

Successful cadets in the Civil Air Patrol do these things...

  • Searches for cadet and senior member mentors inside and outside their squadron.
    • For higher ranking cadets who may not have cadet mentors readily available in their squadron, the wing has cadet mentors ready to help.
  • Actively attends activities outside their squadron.
    • Cadet Airman: Attend these activities
    • Cadet NCOs: Attend and staff these activities
    • Cadet Officers: Attend, staff, and plan these activities.
  • Steps outside their comfort zone
    • This could mean applying for wing activities, stepping up in your squadron, teaching a class, or even volunteering to drill a flight
  • Promotes regularly
    • Check out this webpage for information on all of the cadet grades and achievements, including information on what you need to do to achieve your next milestone! Stripes to Diamonds
    • This also means promoting past C/CMSgt and C/2d Lt to take advantage of the whole cadet program
  • Still now sure what else you can do to be a more successful cadet? Email cp@wawg.cap.gov and ask!

Need something thrilling to do this summer?  After you have completed a basic encampment (here in Washington or elsewhere), you are eligible to apply for national cadet special activities. Application period is usually 1 Dec - 15 Jan.
