Washington Wing Headquarters has several opportunities for members to:
  • Learn and work on a particular staff task in a wing staff section;
  • Try their hand at managing one of the ongoing programs in a staff section;
  • Move up to wing staff in your staff specialty from unit level staff experience;
  • Put your CAP experience or your civilian job experience to work in a wing staff section;
  • Gain staff experience at wing level;
  • Work in an area which is not available at the unit staff level;
  • Serve on a wing committee (Membership, Awards, Promotions, Finance);
  • Serve as a staff member of a wing activity (Encampment, conference, competition).

Meeting Location:  1155 Barnes Blvd, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA 98438-1301

This position reports directly to the Wing Supply Officer or Director of Logistics if no Supply Officer is assigned.

They will be responsible for assisting the Supply Officer/Director of Logistics with all matters pertaining to supply. This includes but is not limited to the following under the direction of the Supply Officer/Director of Logistics :

·         Proper accountability for CAP property. Be proficient in the use and capabilities of the Operational Resource Management System (ORMS)

·         Be responsible for receipt, issue, storage and proper disposal of all CAP property.

·         Be responsible for distribution and recovery of property and document in ORMS efforts to reclaim property from deactivated units and inactive members.

·         Recommend to the commander the allocation, reallocation and retirement of property within the unit.

·         Complete all property inventory and reporting requirements.

The applicant should:

·         Have completed Level II

·         Be safety education current

·         Possess enthusiasm for CAP

·         Be proficient in the use and capabilities of the Operational Resource Management System (ORMS)

·         Be familiar with CAPP 206 and CAP Regulation 174-1.

The Assistant Plans and Programs Officers assist with coordination of overall planning of activities and events.  Two positions are designated for the following tasks: (1) Activities and (2) Conferences and Events.  They shall assist with:

 

·         Developing plans for and monitoring the overall implementation of special projects and programs as directed by the commander and higher headquarters.

·         Plan and coordinate region, wing, or group conferences.

·         Interpret laws, policy statements, directives, regulations, and other communications received from higher headquarters and integrate their requirements and guidance into plans and programs.

·         Assist in the development of operational plans and programs when requested.

 

The Assistant Plans and Programs Officer should be familiar with the Civil Air Patrol Constitution and Bylaws, and all policy matters relating to planning activities and special projects

 

At the time you are assigned to these positions you must:

  • Have completed Level II
  • Have completed Cadet Protection Training – Basic Course
  • Be safety education current
  • Possess an enthusiasm for CAP

 

Special considerations for these positions:

 

Cadet Officers who have attained the Amelia Earhart Award or higher may be considered for these positions as an “Under-Study” and will report to a designated officer.

The Washington Wing Director of Public Affairs is looking for Editors for the Wing magazine “Evergreen.”  The Editor positions listed below are open to all members of Washington Wing.  Please note that multiple positions exist.

o    Applicants work to develop the editorial flow of each issue, working with the other editors to finalize specific stories, angles and sources.

o    May or may not write articles, but assists in reviewing all articles for content before they are published.
