Meeting Location: 1155 Barnes Blvd. – Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA  98438

 

The Conference and Activities Planner reports directly to the Wing Commander in a lead position for overall planning of Conferences and major events, such as banquets and other similar activities.  The candidate shall be responsible for, but not limited to:

 

·         Locating viable venue locations within Washington Wing

·         Establishing a budget for the activity being planned

·         Negotiating with venue operators to reach a satisfactory cost for the event, to include lodging accommodations, if applicable

·         Establishing a support staff for the event

·         Assigning specific tasks to support staff members

·         Establishing a schedule of events for the activity being planned, working with various Wing Staff Directorates

·         Determining if off-site lodging accommodations will be necessary (for example, cadet members)

·         Locating alternate lodging accommodations, if necessary, and investigate or negotiate rates

·         Establishing protocol or arranging for guest speakers or dignitaries to participate

·         Other tasks to be completed specific to the event

 

 

The candidate should be familiar with the Civil Air Patrol Constitution and Bylaws, and all policy matters related to planning activities and special projects.

 

At the time you are assigned to this position you must

 

·         Have completed Level II

·         Have completed Cadet Protection Training – Basic Course

·         Be Safety Education current

·         Be familiar with Risk Management processes and planning

·         Possess an enthusiasm for CAP

·         Be familiar with CAPP 4 – Event Planner Guide: Building a Conference

·         Possess a high degree of organizational skills

·         Be detail oriented

·         Be able to work well with others and have a Team Player attitude

·         Demonstrate fiscal responsibility

 

Special considerations for this position:

 

Cadet Officers who have attained the Amelia Earhart Award or higher may be considered for this position as an “Under Study” and will report to a designated officer.
