Squadron Leadership School (SLS)

27-28 September 2014

Pullman, WA

 Event Information:

·         LOCATION: Smith Center for Undergraduate Education (CUE), Washington State University, Pullman, WA. 

·         PARKING:  You may park in the garage located beneath the CUE at a rate of $2 per day.  If you wish to have a free parking option, you may park across the street in from of Bustad Hall of the Veterinary school.  We will have personnel on-hand to direct you from this lot over to the CUE.

·         REGISTRATION:  We will begin registration on Saturday, 27 September, promptly at 0700.  Please have your valid CAPID and your electronic or printed study guides with you when you register.


o    SATURDAY:  We will begin the class promptly at 0800 and finish up at 1650.

o    SUNDAY:  We will begin the class promptly at 0800 and finish up at 1500.  This will then be followed by a few words, and the graduation ceremony.  Our plan is to have everyone on the road by 1530.

·         LUNCH:  We will be serving a box-lunch during the class on both days.  The cost of these lunches is included in your registration fee.  No additional fee is required.

·         REFRESHMENTS:  We will have coffee, tea, and water available all day both days.  Further, a limited selection of muffins along with fresh fruits and vegetables will be available for your pleasure during the day.

·         PUNCTUALITY:  In order to be respectful of everyone’s time and attention, we will be very timely throughout the weekend.  Please be considerate towards your colleagues.

1.   Inter-State Composite Squadron has received approval to conduct a Squadron Leadership School (SLS) on 27-28 September 2014 at the Smith Center for Undergraduate Education (CUE), Washington State University, Pullman, WA.  This SLS will run promptly from 0800-1630 on Saturday, 27 September and from 0800-1500 on Sunday, 28 September.

2.   This SLS is open to any senior member who has completed Level I of the CAP Professional Development Program and is enrolled in a CAP specialty track. The SLS is designed to enhance a senior member’s performance at the squadron level and is a requirement for completion of Level II.

3.   To apply, all applicants must be safety current, as reported in eServices, and send a completed and appropriately signed CAP Form 17 with the course fee of $20 to:

Only Checks or Money Orders will be accepted, and must be made payable to Washington Wing, CAP.  

The CAP Form 17 must be filled in completely, including:

  •       Your unit commander’s approval (and wing commander’s approval if you are not a member of Washington Wing)
  •       CAPID
  •       specialty track information
  •       and e-mail address.   

Course fee includes all refreshments, snacks, and a box lunch both days.  There is an optional dinner Saturday evening for both students and staff at an additional cost TBD. 

Student applications (CAPF-17) will be accepted in the order in which they are received.  The deadline for applications is at the close of business 20 September 2014.

Once your registration material is forwarded to the host committee, we will email you a more detailed packet of information regarding your attendance.

1.   You will be responsible for handling your own lodging accommodations.   Information on lodging options will be included in the detailed packet of information.

2.   Applicants should review the SLS student guides and materials located on the CAP website at     In an effort to be environmentally friendly, we will NOT be printing student guides for the class.  Students must bring either a printed or preferably an electronic copy of the Student Guide with them to the SLS.

3.   Uniform will be blues uniform or CAP distinctive uniform.  Flight suits, BDU’s/utility uniforms and golf shirt uniforms are not permitted.

4.   Any senior member interested in serving as an instructor should contact the undersigned.
